Cache: 2020 Art Zine
At the most uncertain and confusing points in my life, I made zines – I did this when I graduated high school, in the middle of reviewing for the board exams, when I landed my first job. Maybe it’s as huge as me fulfilling a childhood dream of being in publishing, or as small as just missing The Blue Quill days! (Hi @ Nors, Tei, the Ang twins, etc.)
I like to write even if I’m not good at it – be it in journals or my most beloved notes app – because words have always given me the inspiration and comfort I need.
Here’s my 2020 baby project: CACHE.
An art zine out of my year in isolation, an ode to things I want both cleared and saved. I drew when I felt like it; I wrote when the words came. I let myself create again when I wanted to and not when I needed to.
You can also download the full PDF here for offline reading.
I think my online inactivity made me reluctant to share this – it literally is a part of my 2020 personal diary. Jusko nakakahiya! It’s 64 pages of me. But I am proud of some art pieces. In a year so fleeting, this is my thank you for those who are here, those who chose to stay, those I want to hold on to. Made for all the people and things that pulled me through. (Which tbh, is a lot of K-pop, but I’m not really surprised.) What are stories if not shared?
So long, 2020. You were a hell of a year! It’s not really as if things changed when the clock struck 12 on the 31st. It’s not a Cinderella story. But this is something to remember you by.
Signing in 2021, leaving all these cache behind to make space for something more, something new.
P.S. This will be edited to add freebies within the month – postcards and sticker sheets, or other things from the art here. Just haven’t had the time to organize the files because up until the last minute, I was contemplating if ready na ba ko for the new year, lol. Yun lang.
Clearing the cache,
Louise
